Acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.-Interview with Director Stan Foster-Catholic Exchange.

It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness and Stan Foster is a Christian artist doing just that in Hollywood. Foster began his multi-faceted career as an actor in CBS’ Emmy winning war drama, Tour of Duty. He later produced sitcoms, dramas and reality shows for CBS, FOX, MTV, Comedy Central, USA networks, UPN, Disney, and Discovery Channel. He went on to write and produce the powerful film, Woman Thou are Loosed (from T.D. Jakes’ book). Foster is a courageous writer, who has tackled the heart-wrenching issues of sexual abuse, addiction, domestic violence and other human maladies in his scripts. While Foster’s writings spotlight these evils they nevertheless assert his own ultimate hope in forgiveness and redemption in Christ. His latest offering in this genre is Preacher’s Kid.
Preachers Kid is a compelling and sometimes edgy retelling of the Prodigal Son. Letoya Luckett (formerly of platinum selling Destiny’s Child) stars as the daughter of an overly protective pastor (Gregalan Williams) who leaves home to experience romance and fame in a traveling Gospel musical. Durrell “Tanks” Babbs stars as Devlin, the man whose good looks and charisma lure her away to join the show. Delight turns to desolation as everything falls apart for her. She loses all that she belatedly discovers mattered most in her life: her father, her true love (Sharif Atkins), her self-worth and most tragically her faith.

REVIEWS WITH MIKE FURCHES-
Stan Foster is an up and coming writer, director producer who has been working in numerous projects over the last several years. From writing the screenplay and producing the Film Woman Thou are Loosed, a somewhat controversial film featuring the story from Bishop TD Jakes dealing with physical abuse and adult themes, to experience from appearing on the Mo’Nique Show and producing the television program Homeboys in Outer Space, Foster is sure to raise eyebrows with his blending of spiritual themes with real life events, episodes, and language.
I recently had the opportunity to spend some time with Mr. Foster regarding his work and to discuss some about his new DVD release of his most recent film,Preachers Kid. The following includes some of the insights of Mr. Foster including the making of film in general.

"Preacher's Kid" director Stan Foster: He's Got Faith in the Internet-VARIETY
By: Pat Saperstein
Published Mon, May 10, 2010
The list of top movie downloads on iTunes is packed with the usual suspects — recent home entertainment hits like "The Blind Side," blockbusters like "Avatar," a few cult hits like "Boondock Saints."
But down around no. 33 is the first title that's not immediately recognizable: "Preacher's Kid," a test case of how independent films might eventually profit from digital distribution.
The religious-themed urban musical is also available on DVD and VOD, and played in several dozen cities across the U.S., and costs $9.99 to download on iTunes. It's the brainchild of Stan Foster, who seems to be following in Tyler Perry's footsteps in finding wholesome projects for African-American auds with potential crossover appeal.
The pic is the first directing gig for Foster, who appeared on the TV show "Tour of Duty" and wrote and produced the film version of "Woman Thou Art Loosed," which Perry directed onstage. Though Apple is notoriously tight-lipped when it comes to sales figures, the pic's presence on iTunes' top films list is an encouraging sign for the still-evolving business of indie film downloads.
